    Did I steal someone’s pet?

    Cat at door

About a month and a half ago, a cat showed up in my yard. I feed some of the feral cats in the area so I didn't think much of it. She
  • 03
came every day for a few days before I finally went out to say hello. To my surprise, she was incredibly social and friendly. She

ran over to me and rubbed against my legs and let me pick her up and hold her for quite a while.

This continued for about a week before she started standing directly outside of my back glass door-meowing for hours on

end. I figured she must be someone's outdoor cat because of how friendly she is but we have a lot of coyotes in our area and I

was very worried about her. I posted pics of her on all the local lost pet websites and brought her to the vet to be checked for a

microchip (she walked right into the cat carrier!) She had no microchip but had been spayed

I decided to keep her in my house until I could locate the owner but no one has responded to my posts. I couldn't leave her outside

posted on. If you make reasonable effort to find owner and don't get answer then I would go ahead and keep her.

reasonable to say she does not have a family even if she's friendly, so it's not wrong to keep her. Have
